Mining Haul Truck Scale installed in Western Colorado is designed to weigh CAT 740 articulated Mining Haul Trucks with GVW of approximately 160,000 pounds. The scale is 40' x 14' and has a capacity of 270,000 pounds. It is set up to automatically read the id of the mining haul truck which has a transponder mounted on the front of the vehicle. The remote display shows the weight and once it has read the ID and stored the inbound weight of the mining haul truck, it changes the traffic signal from red to green. When the truck returns after dumping its load of ash from a power plant, the scale reads the id, weighs the outbound weight, calculates the net weight and stores the transaction in the Rice Lake 920i indicator with special programming. It turns the traffic light from red to green and the mining haul truck moves off the scale. The 920i Rice Lake indicator has an ethernet port that is hooked to a nanostation which is paired with another nanostation that is connected to the customers networked computer in an office several hundred feet from the scale. This wireless ethernet eliminated the need to run a cable from the office to the scale. Using Rice Lake's Interchange software the information stored in the 920i indicator is recalled at the end of the day. After storing this information in their computer the 920i is cleared of stored information remotely.
